As it is clear by the heading that this post is related to trauma and the illnesses caused by it, I want to ask you, “What is Trauma?”

Many of you will say that when something bad happens to us, we can’t do anything about it. We have to face it anyway, but that’s not the complete definition of it.
When some bad incidents happen and we are not given the necessary tools to fight them, we become vulnerable. We develop beliefs, misconceptions, and barriers to protect ourselves from harm. Our brain cannot get over the fear and the adrenaline rush we feel when that happens.
Finally, our brain tends to repeat the memories of those horrific events. In reality, there’s no threat but a traumatized person’s brain cannot accept the inevitable truth that it’s not the threat that is harming them but their past trauma.
3 Major Ignored Illnesses Caused by Trauma
These are the 3 major illnesses which people often ignore the cause but from now on it will be remembered that trauma is the main cause: -
Cardiac attack: According to 2021, CVDs accounted for 20.5 million deaths, which is nearly a third of all deaths worldwide. Tobacco, air pollution, and other things are blamed for this disease, but a very crucial thing is ignored which is trauma. According to a research paper published by Trauma-Informed Interventions individuals going through trauma spend most of their time sitting in one place which leads to severe obesity and obesity leads to heart attack.
Cancer: The research in Trauma-Informed Interventions shows by a diagram that most smokers have some trauma which is of course unhealed. That leads to diabetes and if not taken care leads to cancer.
Stroke: Studies have shown that trauma leads to anxiety and panic disorders. If not treated at the right time, it can take the shape of depression. Depression has adverse effects on an individual. Many people start drinking and smoking too which only worsens the condition. The last stage of depression is stroke.
